Project 02 - Educational Facilities | October-December 2010
The second studio assignment of the semester/Project02 is to develop a educational facilities in Urban area in Central Jakarta. The students will have to select a proper site (5000-8000 sqm) in order to develop his/her proposed educational program in two urban regions: grogol or cikini area.
Some constraints to be considered: BCR @50-60%, FAR @ 2 and maximum 4 storey (excluding 1 storey of basement). The program should be consisted of several masses (3 masses as minimum).

The submission of the second assignment of the studio/Project02 will be held on Monday, December 13, 2010 at 12.oo. And the Final presentation will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 10.00.

Midterm Review of Selected Project01
Daniel E Gunawan's Project01 - Art Salon
According to the individual analysis on the region, kemang has transformed into a region that not only a place of expat's residentials but also a place that emerged small creative industry including furniture studio, crafting and product design showroom.
The mentioned statement leads the student -daniel e gunawan- to establish a hospitality facility that accomodate artist community activities in kemang region. The program combines temporarily gallery, cafe and workshop into hub for artists which expected to intensify their art activities and event.
Rinaldy Santoso's Project01 - Executive Club
The program proposed by the student -rinaldy santoso- try to bridge business activities that occured along jalan kemang raya and jalan antasari, by locating a new hospitality facilities for executives class in between those area.
The program combines medium convention hall and temporary lodging for executives.
Some critisms for the student's design:

Some critisms for the student's design:
- There are some lacks of explanation about how the design enrich the existing urban space which has to be applies at every scale, including the region, city, neighbourhood and the street.
- Lack of connections seems occured in the design, which showed through inadequate of integration of physical and visual designed space on the site to its surounding.
- The architectural design is too much focusing on the building -massing, ignoring the space created within the masses or surrounding the masses.
